Cammo Bookshelves
An ash tree once stood in the exact spot where this bookcase is now situated. My client removed it when building an extension, but had the foresight to have it planked and kiln dried. I then used all I could from their timber, along with some other solid Scottish ash to make the bookshelves.
It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but the bookcase is angled over it’s entire 5 metre length, with the far right being 450mm deep and the left side being 300mm to accommodate different sizes of books, and to allow as much light into the room as possible.
My clients didn’t want the tv to be seen when not in use, so the solution was to hide it with fake shelves, decorated with encyclopaedias. The books are guided by runners, and are able to rise and fall using a method more commonly used in sash and case windows.
